Brad Pitt could be facing one more painful blow in his long-running family rift. His 18-year-old son Knox is expected to legally drop the famous Pitt surname, according to a new report — and a source close to the family says the move is only a matter of time.
“It's Inevitable” — What the Source Told Page Six

Page Six broke the story on Saturday, November 7, quoting a source exclusively: “Knox hasn't filed anything yet, but it's only a matter of time before he drops Pitt from his last name. It's inevitable. It's just a question of when, and there's no timeline for that right now. The whole situation is heartbreaking for Brad.”
Knox has not filed any legal paperwork yet, and there is no timeline for when he might do it. But if he follows through, he would become the fifth of Pitt, 62, and ex-wife Angelina Jolie's six children to legally remove the surname “Pitt.” Representatives for Angelina, Brad and Knox did not respond to Page Six's requests for comment.
Knox Already Dropped Pitt on His High School Diploma

While Knox has yet to take legal action, he has already signaled his intentions. He used the name “Knox Jolie” on his high school diploma after graduating from Fusion Academy in Los Angeles in June.
Knox celebrated the milestone ceremony alongside his mother, Angelina Jolie, 51, his older brother Pax, older sister Zahara, and his twin sister Vivienne. His father was not part of the celebration.
Vivienne Made It Official Just Days Ago

Knox's anticipated decision comes just days after his twin sister Vivienne officially dropped her father's famous last name. A Los Angeles judge granted her petition to legally change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie during a hearing on Monday, November 2.
Vivienne filed her petition on July 20, just eight days after celebrating her 18th birthday alongside her twin brother, citing “personal” reasons for wanting to remove “Pitt” from her surname.
Four Down, Two to Go — the Full Family Picture

Shiloh, 20, was the first of Jolie and Pitt's six children to legally drop her father's surname. Zahara, 21, followed in September, as did their son Maddox, 25 — and now Vivienne has joined them.
That leaves only Pax, 22, who still publicly goes by Pax Jolie-Pitt, and Knox. The former couple's divorce was finalized in 2024, and the family remains divided years after their split in 2016. Whether Knox files the paperwork soon or waits, the message from the children is now unmistakable — and for Brad Pitt, it is the one loss he cannot seem to stop.
